Days to Korea: ONE

Thursday, December 16, 2004

Yet another upcoming vacation I've been looking forward to for a long while. 8 fantastic days of snowy winter and tons of opportunities to wear all those cool sweaters and jackets I'd been saving. What made preparation for Korea sweeter is that I am finally exempted from visa application. Having a Thai passport is quite a hassle. The embassies are definitely not opened 24-7, the queue is ridiculously long and immigration officers peering suspiciously over their desks and probably contemplating that I may be having more than just a vacation in mind while the rest of my friends with Singapore passports either a) didn't have to apply for any or b) issued an eVisa over the internet. Perhaps I should change citizenship.

Mom and Dad are back from India yesterday. It was on one of those pilgrimage tour that track the footsteps of Buddha. Mom caught the flu and managed to lose her voice in the process. Dad being Dad, jokingly said over dinner that he never felt so much peace and quiet with her around. Mom tried to say something in return but gave up, hence proving Dad's point. My 2 brothers are also down with the flu and I felt surrounded. For insurance, I've been drinking only from my own bottle and barricading myself inside my room. The worse thing that could happen is to go on vacation totally sick. Anyway how, Korea here I come!
